WILKES-BARRE, PA -- The women's volleyball team dropped a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday afternoon. The Bloodhounds fell to Wilkes University, 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-21), and Montclair State University, 3-0 (27-25, 25-14, 25-14). John Jay is now 3-7 on the season.
In the match vs. Wilkes, freshman
Reilly Catan and
Faith Harer fell just short of picking up double-doubles. Catan recorded nine kills and seven digs while Harer had eight kills, a team-high 10 digs, and a match-high three service aces. Freshman Paide Sadowitz finished with nine kills and freshman
Meghan Smith totaled a team-high 25 assists and five digs.
Against Montclair, freshman
Erika Hoti led the offense with a team-high 10 kills and a team-high two total blocks. Reilly notched nine kills and six digs. Harer added seven kills, seven digs, and a team-high two aces. Smith dished out a team-high 23 assists and freshman
Kristin Gretener had six digs.
On the day, John Jay totaled 60 kills, 58 assists, 12 service aces, 11 total blocks, and 63 digs.
The Bloodhounds return to the Doghouse on Wednesday, September 29, to host St. Joseph's College Brooklyn. First serve is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
