NEW YORK, NY -- The men's basketball team lit up the scoreboard on Thursday night, defeating Hunter College, 111-100, at the Doghouse. In the team's first game in over a month, the Bloodhounds matched the program's all-time record for total points scored with 111 which was set all the way back on December 2, 1995, and earned the team's first CUNYAC victory of the season in the process. John Jay is now 3-7 (1-0 CUNYAC) on the year, while the Hawks fall to 5-8 (1-3 CUNYAC).
Freshman
Frankie Barbato had a career-night, pouring in a career-high 23 points on 7-13 shooting (4-7 3PT). Junior
Angel Rivera had a game-high 25 points and added four rebounds and three steals. Freshman
Dan Kenny had a monster game on both ends, chipping in 16 points on offense while collecting a career-high 16 rebounds and notching a career-high six blocks on defense. Sophomore
Garrison Watkins tallied his third double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman
Jordan Bell nearly recorded a triple-double, collecting eight points, eight assists, and seven rebounds. Freshman
Corey Jones Jr. added 13 points.Â
Next up, the Bloodhounds will visit Lehman College on Saturday, January 15 for the team's second CUNYAC match of the season. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
