Women's Volleyball Extends Winning Streak To Four Straight; Sweeps Purchase On Friday

Purchase, NY - The John Jay women's volleyball team extended its winning streak to four matches Friday, sweeping Purchase 3-0 (25-18; 25-11; 25-15) on Friday. 
 
 
Sophomore Faith Harer led the way with a match-high 12 kills, six digs, and four aces. Classmates Taylor Hunt and Johnelle Pierre matched Harer with four aces. 
 
Hunt and Harer tied for the team lead with six digs. Meghan Smith tallied 21 assists to move her career total to 1,011 while adding three digs in the victory. 
 
Both teams traded points to a 4-4 stalemate before the Bloodhounds raced out to a 6-1 run, extending the lead to 10-5 after an ace by Pierre. 
 
Purchase climbed to within one, 17-16, before John Jay closed out the first set by outscoring the Panthers, 25-18. 
 
 
In the second set, the two teams again went back and forth to a 3-3 tie before the visitors erupted on an 8-0 run in building an 11-3 lead after an attack error by Lilith Bastek-Ochoa. The Bloodhounds took a 2-0 lead in the match after Harer ended the set with a kill. 
 


In the final set, both teams continued trading points as they were deadlocked at 8-8 before Pierre recorded the kill. The Bloodhounds closed out the match on a 17-7 run, highlighted by the final kill coming from Aniko Ouwendijk. 
 
The Bloodhounds remain on the road as they will resume CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play on Tuesday, October 18 when they travel to Brooklyn College. 
 
First-serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
