NEW YORK, NY - The John Jay women's volleyball team was defeated, 3-0 (25-12, 25-20, 25-19), by the FDU-Florham Devils on Monday evening at the Doghouse. The Bloodhounds fall to 12-11 on the season, while the Devils improve to 10-9 on the year.
The Bloodhounds trailed early in set one, but a kill from sophomore
Faith Harer brought John Jay to within four at 13-9. However, the Devils would close the first set on an extended 12-3 run to gain the early lead in the match. John Jay was competitive in both of the next two sets, but ultimately FDU-Florham was able to emerge victorious in both by margins of five and six, respectively. The result of the match was a sweep in favor of the Devils.
Harer paced the Bloodhounds with 12 kills, while adding seven digs. Sophomore
Taylor Hunt had a team-high 14 digs along with two assists. Sophomore
Meghan Smith dished out 19 assists, collected eight digs, and had a team-high two service aces. Sophomores
Rylea Sandel and
Johnelle Pierre chipped in four kills each.
The Bloodhounds final home match of the season will be tomorrow, October 25 when they will host Baruch at the Doghouse. First serve is set for 6 p.m. The athletics department will honor the team's lone senior,
Catharine Fleming, prior to the match.
