PURCHASE, NY - The John Jay women's volleyball team saw its regular season come to a close on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-10, 25-15) loss to non-conference foe Manhattan. The Bloodhounds head into the postseason at exactly .500, with an overall mark of 13-13 (5-2 CUNYAC). The Valiants improve to 21-6 on the year.
a 7-0 run early in the first set for Manhattanville put things out of reach and would set the tone for the rest of the match. The Bloodhounds would respond with a brief run of their own, but eventually the Valiants coasted to a 25-9 victory. John Jay fought hard in each subsequent sent to put more points on the board than the previous set, but nonetheless Manhattanville emerged with a 3-0 win.
Sophomores
Amanda Marte and
Rylea Sandel led the Bloodhounds with three kills each. Sophomore
Reilly Catan had a team-high seven digs, while sophomore
Meghan Smith led the team with seven assists.
John Jay enters the CUNYAC Championships as the #3 seed, and will square off against #6 Lehman in the opening round of the postseason on Tuesday, November 1. The match will be hosted by the Bloodhounds, held at the Doghouse, and will begin at 7 p.m.
