NEW HAVEN, CT -- The men's basketball team took on undefeated Division I Yale University in an exhibition match on Sunday afternoon. The Bloodhounds fought hard but fell to the Bulldogs, 112-55. Yale improves to 5-0 on the season.
Junior
Garrison Watkins carried the offense with a team-high 14 points and three rebounds. Junior
Joel-Anthony Alleyne tallied eight points and picked up John Jay's lone block. Freshmen
Jamir Stewart and
Adrian Kopec came off the bench to notch eight and seven points, respectively. Sophomore
Jordan Evelyn dished out a team-high three assists. Junior
Mikhail Leston added three boards and two assists.
"From start to finish, today was a special day for our program," commented head men's basketball coach Ryan Hyland. "We are so grateful to Coach Jones and Yale University for bringing us up to New Haven this afternoon. The experience and memories today provided will be one that last for a while as with the history of the Bulldogs' program and success is truly remarkable and we thank them from sharing the court with them today. I am equally proud of the way our guys competed with the back-to-back Ivy League champions."
The Bloodhounds return to the Doghouse for its annual Homecoming celebration on Tuesday, November 22. John Jay hosts Drew University with tip-off scheduled at 8:00 pm. The game will be live streamed at
