BROOKLYN, NY - The men's basketball team stormed back to top Medgar Evers, 83-78, to even the season series on Friday night in Brooklyn, NY. The Bloodhounds improve to 10-12 on the season and 7-5 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Cougars drop to 6-16 overall and 3-10 in CUNYAC.
The first eight minutes went back-and-forth as the Bloodhounds led 17-16. John Jay increased its lead to six but the hosts scored seven straight points to hold a 23-22 advantage. With the score knotted at 26 apiece with just over six minutes left in the opening half, Medgar Evers broke open the period on an 11-0 run. John Jay chipped away at the lead and trailed 39-35 after 20 minutes of play.

Dan Kenny with 16:21 on the clock gave the Bloodhounds their best lead of the half. Up by three, sophomore
Corey Jones Jr. drained a three-pointer with just over 13 minutes remaining. The Cougars responded on a 7-1 run to tie the score 59-59. Over the next seven minutes, both teams exchanged buckets but John Jay led 71-70. Watkins followed to hit a huge three-pointer and the Bloodhounds would not look back. Kenny tallied his sixth double-double of the season with 20 points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
Garrison Watkins picked up his fifth double-double of the year, and fell two assists shy of a triple-double, with a career-high 22 points, 10 rebounds, and a game-high eight assists. Freshman
Isaac Holmes registered 13 points, seven boards, and a pair of steals. Jones Jr. finished with 14 points.
The Bloodhounds return to the Doghouse on Sunday, February 13, to take on the Cardinals of York College. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
