Men's Volleyball Earns First Win with Sweep of York in Tri-Match at the Doghouse

NEW YORK, NY -- The men's volleyball team hosted a tri-match at the Doghouse on Saturday afternoon, with Elizabethtown College and York College coming to town for the event. The Bloodhounds swept the Cardinals (25-13, 25-16, 25-19) to earn their first victory of the season, but lost to the Blue Jays in three sets (25-12, 25-17, 25-17) earlier in the day. John Jay is now 1-4 overall on the season. 

In the win over York, freshman Logan Ramos had a match-high 11 kills and five service aces. Sophomore Jack Nugent chipped in seven kills with a game-high seven service aces. Freshman Stephen de Stefani added three kills and three aces. Sophomore Alex Bridgelall had a game-high 18 assists and freshman Evan Wandersee had three digs. 

In the loss to Elizabethtown, freshman Akashdeep Singh led the way with six kills for the Bloodhounds. Ramos had five kills in the match to go with two service aces, and freshman Kyle Barriffe-Johnson had four kills and also two service aces. Sophomore Bryce Glasper had 11 digs and sophomore Manuel Peralta had 17 assists. 

For the day, Ramos led the team with 16 kills. Peralta also had an impressive day totaling 21 assists, four aces, five digs, and one kill. Nugent collected nine kills and eight service aces for the afternoon. 

Looking ahead, the Bloodhounds will embark on a two-match road trip, first taking Purchase College on Wednesday, February 16 at 7 p.m. Then, they will take on New Jersey City University on Friday, February 18 at 7 p.m.
