NEW YORK, NY - Men's basketball defeated the CCNY Beavers, 76-66, on Saturday afternoon at the Doghouse. With the win, John Jay improves to 8-11 (6-4 CUNYAC) on the year, while CCNY falls to 6-14 (2-9 CUNYAC) on the season.
The Bloodhounds held a marginal two-point lead at halftime, but used a high-scoring second half to help secure the victory. After the Beavers cut the deficit to one point early on in the period, John Jay went on an 8-0 run capped by a three-pointer from junior
Joel-Anthony Alleyne to go up nine points. John Jay saw its lead as large as 14, and the closest that CCNY would get from the point was to within four points, but the Bloodhounds held off the Beavers to earn the win.
Freshman
Corey Jones Jr. stuffed the stat sheet in the victory, scoring 11 points, grabbing eight rebounds, dishing out six assists, and collecting two steals with zero turnovers. Junior
Angel Rivera led the Bloodhounds in scoring with 18 points on 7-13 shooting (2-3 3PT). Freshman
Jordan Bell had six points, five rebounds, and a career-high five steals. Sophomore
