NEW YORK, NY - In the second game of a back-to-back weekend set on Sunday afternoon at the Doghouse, the men's basketball team defeated Pratt Institute, 73-56, for its second straight victory. With the win, John Jay improves to 9-11 on the year, while Pratt moves to 4-15 on the season.
It was a low-scoring defensive battle in the first half, and the Bloodhounds snuck to the locker room leading 29-25. The floodgates opened in the second half, however, and the John Jay offense came alive. Junior
Angel Rivera scored 20 points in the second frame alone, en route to a 44 point period for the Bloodhounds to help secure the dub.
Rivera dropped a game-high 28 points in the contest to lead John Jay, and also had three takeaways. Sophomore
Garrison Watkins notched 10 points, including a highlight reel, one-handed slam plus a foul to help seal the deal late in the fourth quarter. Freshman
Corey Jones Jr. was also in double-figures with 10 points. Freshman
Jordan Evelyn tallied nine points, five rebounds, and two assists. Freshman
Jordan Bell collected seven rebounds, six points, and three assists.
John Jay will be back at it again on Wednesday, February 9 against Lehman College at the Doghouse. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. The game will be streamed via
