NEW YORK, NY -- The men's volleyball team took down CUNYAC foe Brooklyn College, 3-1 (25-19, 25-23, 20-25, 25-16), on Saturday afternoon at the Doghouse. With the win, the Bloodhounds improve to 5-7 (3-2 CUNYAC) on the season, while the Bulldogs fall to 4-9 (1-3 CUNYAC) on the year.
The Bloodhounds coasted to a win with a decent lead in set one, but set two was no easy task. The two teams were tied at 19, when a kill from freshman
Stephen Daly sparked a 5-2 run to give John Jay a 24-21 lead. After Brooklyn scored two consecutive points to inch closer, the Bulldogs botched the ensuing serve to give the Bloodhounds the win. It got a little interesting after Brooklyn won the third set, but John Jay bounced back to win set four with a dominant performance to secure the victory.
Freshman
Akashdeep Singh led the Bloodhounds with nine kills in the game. Freshman
Logan Ramos had a team-high 12 points thanks to six kills, a block, and a career-high five service aces. Sophomore
Jack Nugent and freshman
Stephen De Stefani chipped in six kills each. Sophomore
Manuel Peralta collected 28 assists and six digs. Freshman
Evan Wandersee had a career-high seven digs.
The Bloodhounds will look to make it a two-match winning streak when they take on York College on Tuesday, March 15 at 7 p.m. in Jamaica, NY.
