NEW YORK, NY -- The men's volleyball team returned home to take on Lehman College on Saturday afternoon, and the Bloodhounds went on to beat the Lighting in our sets (25-27, 25-20, 25-14, 25-14) at the Doghouse. With the win, John Jay improves to 7-8 (5-3 CUNYAC) on the year, while Lehman drops to 5-12 (1-7 CUNYAC).
John Jay and Lehman battled throughout the entirety of the first set, but the Lighting eventually extended their lead to 24-20. The Bloodhounds rallied four four straight points sparked by a monster kill from freshman
Stephen Daly, to tie the set at 24, but Lehman took three of the next four points to go up 1-0 in the match. This was a wake up call for John Jay, and the team came alive in the ensuing three games. The Bloodhounds won set two by five points, and then coasted to 25-14 victories in both set two and three to secure the win.
Freshman
Logan Ramos smashed a career-high 17 kills and collected 11 digs for a double-double which was the first of his career as well. Freshman
Stephen De Stefani was also in double-figures, smacking 10 kills while also adding four total blocks. Freshman
Akashdeep Singh chipped in eight kills and Daly had seven of his own. Sophomore
Manuel Peralta notched 42 assists in the match, also good for a new career-high. Sophomore
Jack Nugent matched his career-high with eight total blocks.
The Bloodhounds look to make it two wins in a row when they hit the road to face CCNY on Tuesday, March 22. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
