NEW YORK, NY -- The men's volleyball team was swept (25-15, 25-20, 28-26) by non-conference foe Kean University on Wednesday evening at the Doghouse. John Jay falls to 7-10 on the season while Kean improves to 14-9 on the year.
The Cougars controlled the majority of the first two sets, and found themselves up 2-0 rather quickly. The Bloodhounds wouldn't go down easy, however, scoring seven of the first eight points of set three. Eventually, Kean rallied to take a 24-23 lead, but back-to-back kills from freshmen
Kyle Barriffe-Johnson and
Logan Ramos put the Bloodhounds ahead and in position to extend the match.The Cougars responded by scoring four of the next five points after a timeout to secure the victory.
Ramos smacked a team-high nine kills and three service aces to lead the Bloodhounds. Freshmen
Akashdeep Singh and
Stephen De Stefani chipped in six kills each. Sophomore
Manuel Peralta tallied 26 assists and two digs. Sophomore
Jack Nugent notched five total blocks and four kills for nine points.
The Bloodhounds will take the court at the Doghouse again on Saturday, March 26 when they will host Baruch. First serve is set for 11 a.m. The game will be streamed via
