NEW YORK, NY -- The men's volleyball team picked up its first CUNYAC victory of the season on Thursday night, sweeping (29-27, 25-19, 25-21) the Lehman College Lighting at The Apex in the Bronx, NY. With the win, John Jay improves to 3-6 (1-1 CUNYAC) on the season, while Lehman drops to 4-7 (0-2 CUNYAC) on the year. 

The first set was an absolute battle that came down to the wire. Lehman was on the verge of victory with a 24-21 lead, but the Bloodhounds rallied for three straight points capped by a kill from freshman Stephen De Stefani to tie the game and force a win by two situation. After exchanging a few points, John Jay re-gained control thanks to a service ace from Freshman Kyle Barriffe-Johnson. Then, after a Lightning kill, John Jay won the set thanks to a kill from De Stefani and a block by sophomores Jack Nugent and Manuel Peralta. Tha win helped the Bloodhounds seize momentum that they would not relinquish for the rest of the match as they went on to sweep the contest. 

Freshman Logan Ramos had a career-high 14 kills to lead the Bloodhounds and added eight digs. Freshman Akashdeep Singh notched his first collegiate double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs along with three service aces. De Stefani had eight kills and Nugent had six kills. Peralta matched his career-high with 34 assists and had three service aces. Sophomore Bryce Glasper chipped in 10 digs. Barriffe-Johnson had four total blocks. 

The Bloodhounds return to the court on Saturday, March 3 when they will host CCNY at the Doghouse. First serve is set for 11 a.m.
