Men's Basketball Drops Road Conference Tilt At CCNY On Friday, 83-61

New York, NY - The John Jay men's basketball team dropped its CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) road contest on Friday to CCNY, 83-61. 
 
With the loss, the Bloodhounds fall to 5-17 overall and 4-7 in league play while the Beavers improve to 14-8 and 9-2 in conference action. 
 
Three Bloodhounds reached double-figures, led by Jordan Evelyn, who tallied a team-leading 18 points on 5 of 10 shooting while hitting on 8 of 9 from the free-throw line. 
 
The Hempstead, NY native grabbed four rebounds while dishing out three assists and swiping three steals in 30 minutes of play. 
 
Adrian Kopec netted 11 points, nine coming from three-point range in 32 minutes of action. Dan Kenny notched 10 points to go along with seven rebounds on 5 of 7 shooting from the field. 
 
Yassine Sakhi led all scorers with 22 points on 9 of 13 shooting. He recorded five rebounds and dished out three assists while playing 30 minutes. 
 
Dashaun Galloway registered a double-double, finishing with 16 points and dished out 10 assists in 33 minutes of action. He nearly got a triple-double, adding seven rebounds to his ledger. 
 
Daniel Piszczatowski was the third Beaver to reach double-digits, scoring 14 points on 5 of 11 shooting and hitting on 3 of 7 from the outside. 
 
CCNY jumped out to an early 5-2 lead before Delgado converted the backend of a two-shot foul. 
 
The Beavers used a 14-6 run over the next 4:19 to build up a ten-point advantage, 19-9, following a layup from Sakhi. 
 
The two teams couldn't find their rhythm from the floor over the next four minutes until Evelyn snapped that streak with a layup at the 7:48 mark. 
 
The Bloodhounds outscored the Beavers, 11-9, to cut the deficit to six, 28-22 after Evelyn converted both free throw attempts. 
 
CCNY closed out the first half scoring 12 of the final 20 points as the Beavers went into the locker room with a ten-point lead. 
 
John Jay converted on 37.5 percent from the field over the opening 20 minutes while CCNY hit on 48.5 percent (16 of 33) from the field with Sakhi leading the way with 11 first half points. 
 
Evelyn, Kenny and Adrian Kopec paced the visitors scoring a combined 21 points in the opening stanza.
 
John Jay kept the deficit within ten points, 46-36, after Kenny muscled in two on a layup off the feed from Evelyn. 
 
The Beavers used a 14-8 run over the next five minutes to build a 16-point advantage, 60-44, after Sakhi hit one of two from the line. 
 
Over the final 11:21, John Jay's defense forced ten turnovers, but CCNY outscored the Bloodhounds, 23-17 after hitting on 8 of 17 from the floor. 
 
For the game, John Jay converted on 35.3 percent from the field while CCNY went 32 of 62 from the floor (51.6 percent).
 
The Beavers held a slim edge on the boards, 42-38, with the Bloodhounds holding a 14-11 advantage on the offensive glass. 
 
John Jay returns to the court on Wednesday, February 8, as they head to the Bronx to take on Lehman at 7:30 p.m.
