Brooklyn, NY - The John Jay men's volleyball team served up their tenth win of the season, defeating Brooklyn College, 3-1, in CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) action on Tuesday evening at the West Quad Gymnasium.
With the win, the Bloodhounds improve to 10-6 overall while running their conference record to 4-2 on the season. The Bulldogs fall to 5-10 and 1-5 in league action.
Logan Ramos recorded a season-high eight aces to go along with seven kills and five digs.
Jeferson Avila registered a team-leading ten kills while
Bryce Glasper led the way with six digs.
Maxwell Law notched 24 assists and three digs in the win.
Kyle Barriffe Johnson posted five blocks while teammate
Stephen De Stefani added four blocks and seven kills.
Tommy Min paced the Bulldogs with 13 kills and five digs. Armando Kaloshi recorded a team-leading six digs while David Lema finished with 22 assists.
Brooklyn raced out to an early 2-1 lead but the Bloodhounds quickly seized the momentum and capitalized on it as the visitors answered with a 9-1 run, capped by an attack error by Lema.
Three straight kills ran the score to 18-8 in favor of John Jay, thanks to a kill from Ramos.
The Bloodhounds closed out the first set on a kill by Avila from Law.
John Jay carried the momentum into the second, cruising to a 7-1 lead after Ramos was credited with his fifth ace of the evening.
The Bloodhounds took a 13-3 advantage after
Evan Wandersee posted back-to-back aces. John Jay closed out the second set with a Ramos kill, going up 2-0 in the match after picking up a 25-15 win.
The Bulldogs held off the Bloodhounds in the third set, avoiding the sweep, earning a 25-18 win in the set after Min finished the set with a kill.
In the fourth set, John Jay seized control of the tempo, jumping out to an early 6-1 lead following an attack error by Jaden McBryde.
Barriffe-Johnson notched the kill that doubled up the Bloodhounds lead, 16-8. before scoring nine of the final 16 points in the match, with
Jack Nugent recording the match point on a kill.
John Jay returns to the Doghouse on Thursday, March 16, as the Bloodhounds will host York at 7:00 p.m.
