Men's Volleyball Records Back To Back Victories; Blanks York College On Thursday At The Doghouse

New York, NY - The John Jay College men's volleyball team earned their second straight victory, defeating the York College Cardinals, 3-0 (25-11; 25-9; 25-9) on Thursday evening from The Doghouse.
 
With the win, the Bloodhounds have now won seven of their last eight matches to move ot 11-6 overall and 5-2 in CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play. York falls to 0-4 overall on the season. 
 
 
Stephen Daly led the way for the Bloodhounds with seven kills. Logan Ramos registered a team-leading six aces and six digs in the contest. Kyle Barriffee Johnson had five kills, five aces, two digs, and a block. Evan Wandersee added four digs while recording a kill. 
 
Jaylen Campbell paced the Cardinals with three kills on the evening. Ahmed Algendy recorded a team-leading four assists to go along with five digs. 
 
The Bloodhounds jumped out to an early 13-2 advantage following a kill from Daly. John Jay doubled up the lead at 22-11 following another kill by Daly, this time from Maxwell Law before Stephen De Stefani sealed the match with a furious kill, putting John Jay up, 1-0.
 
 
John Jay carried that momentum into the second and third sets, respectively, as the Bloodhounds hit 42.1 percent in the second and 40.9 in the third in recording the three-set triumph. 
 
Ramos set the tempo in the second set, recording two aces during the six consecutive points. In the later portion of the set, Wandersee notched a pair of aces before an attack error by Algendy sealed the set for the Bloodhounds. 
 
 
In the third set, Wandersee notched another ace in helping John Jay propel their lead to 10-3. The Bloodhounds closed out the match on a 15-6 run, thanks to two kills from Barriffe-Johnson and one apiece from Wandersee, Rudy Janga, and Nugent. 
 
For the match, John Jay served up 18 aces while notching 27 assists, 14 of which came from Law. Daniel Gonzalez Verdejo added 10 helpers in the match. 
 
The Bloodhounds will have a quick turnaround as they gear up for their second tri-match of the season. John Jay welcomes Hunter College and The College at Old Westbury on Saturday, March 18. 
 
John Jay will square off against the Hawks at 11:00 a.m. in CUNYAC play before Hunter squares off against Old Westbury at 1:00 p.m. The day concludes with the Bloodhounds taking on the Panthers at 3:00 p.m.
