Men's Volleyball Blanks Pratt For Fourth Straight Win On Thursday

Brooklyn, NY - The John Jay men's volleyball team shut out the Pratt Institute Cannoneers, 3-0, on Thursday evening to extend their win streak to four straight matches. 
 
The Bloodhounds move to 8-5 on the season while the Cannoneers fall to 1-8 on the season. 
 

 
Logan Ramos paved the way for the Bloodhounds on the evening, recording a team-high 11 kills while adding four digs and three aces in the win. 
 
Jack Nugent finished with 10 kills while also recording three aces. Stephen Daly matched Ramos and Nugent with three aces while adding six kills. 
 
Bryce Glasper notched a team-leading five digs in the match while Alex Bridgelall finished with 20 assists for John Jay. 
 
Jason Raymond paved the way for Pratt, finished with four kills and nine digs. Max Wang had the lone ace for the Cannoneers to go along with eight assists while Devaun Longley concluded the evening with five digs. 
 
John Jay raced out to a 7-1 advantage before a service error gave Pratt the point. From that point, the Bloodhounds were in complete control, using a 16-6 run in building a 23-8 advantage after a ball handling error by Wang. 
 
Nugent and Ramos each recorded three kills during the run while Daly and Kyle Barriffe-Johnson added a kill each in helping extend the lead for the visitors. Nugent closed out the first set with a kill as John Jay went ahead 1-0.
 
 
Both teams were evenly matched in the second until the visitors pulled ahead 14-6 thanks to an ace by Nugent, his second in as many chances. 
 
Pratt staged an 8-5 run of their own in closing the gap to 18-14 following an error by Bridgelall. Both teams recorded seven points apiece down the stretch, but the Bloodhounds won the set on a service error by Akul Kasliwal. 
 
John Jay mirrored their intensity from the first set, racing out to a 8-1 after a bad set from the Cannoneers. Pratt scored five of the next six points in cutting the lead to three before Nugent killed the rally. 
 
Two straight attack errors gave the Bloodhounds a 19-8 lead before sailing the victory by scoring six of the final nine points as Stephen De Stefani recorded the match point kill from Evan Wandersee
 
John Jay resumes CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play on Tuesday, March 7, as the Bloodhounds return to Brooklyn to square off against the Medgar Evers Cougars at 7:00 p.m.
