Men's Volleyball Blanks Lehman On Tuesday Evening

Bronx, NY - The John Jay men's volleyball team outlasted the Lehman College Lightning on Tuesday evening, 3-0 (25-21; 25-19; 25-17).
 
With the win, the Bloodhounds move to 13-7 overall and 6-3 in league play. 
 
Logan Ramos led the team with 12 kills and added eight digs on the night while teammate Kyle Barriffe Johnson added 11 kills and two blocks. Jeferson Avila added 11 kills and a team-leading nine digs. Maxwell Law recorded 33 assists for the Bloodhounds.
 
Ray Rodriguez had eight kills and six digs for the Lightning. Christian Agudo added a team-best 10 digs while finishing with 20 assists. 
 
John Jay withstood an early 8-3 Lehman advantage following an attack error by Law. The Bloodhounds answered back with a 9-4 run of their own to even the match at 12-12 following a bad set by Agudo. 
 
The two squads traded points over the remaining portion of the match, with John Jay closing out the first set on a 13-9 run to pick up a 25-21 win as Barriffe-Johnson recorded the kill from Akashdeep Singh
 
John Jay carried that wave of momentum into the second set, jumping out to a 8-2 lead following an attack error by Christopher Gil. The Lightning inched their way back into the set, outscoring the Bloodhounds 15-11 to get to within one, 19-18, following an ace from Emmanuel Oladuso.
 
The visitors closed out the second set with a 6-1 run, thanks to Ramos putting the clinching the set with an ace.
 
In the third set, the two teams once again were virtually even, trading points before the Bloodhounds created some space between themselves and Lehman, as Barriffe-Johnson once again came up with a timely kill that made it 13-8. 
 
The visitors closed out the match outscoring the Lightning 12-9 in picking up their 13th win of the season and sixth in the CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC). 
 
The Bloodhounds return to The Doghouse on Thursday, March 23, as they will host the CCNY Beavers. First-serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
