New York, NY - The John Jay men's volleyball team picked up their 16th win of the season and moved to 8-3 in CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) action after posting a 3-0 (25-16; 25-14; 25-23) triumph at The Doghouse on Tuesday evening.

With the win, John Jay has now won five of their last six matches in posting back-to-back wins.

Kyle Barriffe-Johnson led the way for the Bloodhounds, recording 11 kills and three blocks. Jeferson Avila finished with a team-high 11 digs while adding five digs.

Logan Ramos added nine digs and eight kills while Jack Nugent and Akashdeep Singh each recorded seven kills. Nugent led the way with three aces and two blocks on the evening.

Carlos Abreu led the way for Medgar Evers with 15 digs and nine kills. Austin Romeo notched a team-leading 15 assists.

In the first set, Medgar Evers jumped out to a 8-5 lead following an attack error by Avila. From that point, the Bloodhounds sparked a 13-4 run in building a 18-12 advantage as Avila remedied the earlier mishap with a kill of his own. John Jay closed out the set scoring seven of the final 11 points, capped by an attack error by the Cougars' Sebastiann Perez.

John Jay raced out to a 8-3 advantage in the second set following a kill from Barriffe-Johnson. The Bloodhounds doubled up their lead, 20-10, following an attack error by Isaac Akindipe. Nugent closed out the set with an emphatic ace, as John Jay went ahead in the match 2-0.

In the third and what turned out to be the final set, the Cougars posted a 7-3 lead following a bad set by Maxwell Law. The two teams rallied back and forth before the Bloodhounds created some space with a two-point lead, 19-17, following a service error.

The Cougars kept pace though, trimming the deficit down to two following an attack error by Stephen Daly. The Bloodhounds sealed the win as Singh recorded the kill for the win.

The Bloodhounds return to the court on Thursday, March 30, as they will travel to Baruch for a 6:00 p.m. first-serve.
