With the win, the Bloodhounds move to 18-9 overall on the season and will take on the No. 2 seed Baruch on Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. The Bulldogs finish the year with an 8-16 overall record and 4-10 in league action.

The visiting Bulldogs held a pair of one-point, leading 8-7 following a kill from Kaloshi. The Bloodhounds responded with a 9-3 run of their own in taking a 16-11 lead, thanks to a kill by Ramos from Maxwell Law.

Brooklyn answered back with a 9-3 spurt of their own, capped by a kill from Aziz Abdusamiev as the Bulldogs led 20-19. A service error by Lema tied the set at 20-20.

The two teams traded the next several points before Ramos set up the set point with an ace and Stephen De Stefani cemented the first set win with a block on the attack error by Min.

The Bulldogs got off to a fast start in the second set, racing out to a 7-3 lead following an attack error from De Stefani. John Jay rallied back in the set, outscoring Brooklyn, 15-10, in taking a 18-17 lead on the block by Ramos on the attack error by Yinuo Zhang.

Similar to the first set, the two teams traded points with Brooklyn claiming a 21-19 lead off the error by Ramos. John Jay wasted little time in capitalizing on Brooklyn's mishaps, as an attack error from Fidel Maldonado put JJC up 24-21, before Nugent emphatically killed the Bulldogs' rally as the Bloodhounds went ahead 2-0 in the overall match.

In the third set, the two teams continued their stalemate for tempo, as John Jay held a slim 10-8 lead on the service error from Sebastian Rodriguez. The Bloodhounds closed out the match on a 15-7 run, capped by an attack error for Min, sending John Jay to the semifinals for the second straight year.
