Men's Basketball Scores Wire-to-Wire Win Over Pratt in Homecoming Tangle

New York, NY - The John Jay men's basketball team wrapped up its three-game homestand, and the annual Homecoming doubleheader, at The Doghouse on Tuesday night.

After previously not facing off since 1995, the Bloodhounds have taken on the Pratt Institute Cannoneers for the fourth time in the last five years. The home team secured the program's 11th consecutive victory over Pratt, with a 88-70 win.

This marks the Bloodhounds' first Homecoming win since 2019.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Bloodhounds blew out to a 10-2 run to open the game. The home side racked seven steals in the first five minutes, driving to the basket on every score.

Jordan Evelyn pushed the lead to double digits in the final ten minutes of the first half on his third made shot of the evening.

Each side traded baskets down the stretch but jumpers on back-to-back possessions by Pratt around the six-minute mark cut the John Jay lead to just five points.

Emmanuel Adenekan and Jamir Stewart returned the favor just two minutes later, as Adenekan converted his first three-pointer of the game from the corner and Stewart drove the lane for a quick 5-0 run. The Bloodhounds led 40-30 with 4:00 to play.

John Jay had an answer for every Pratt basket down the stretch, taking a 47-36 lead to the locker room. The Bloodhounds went to the locker room with 11 steals, already their second-best total in any full game this season.

The Cannoneers nearly wiped the entire Bloodhound lead off the board in the opening three minutes of the second half, starting the final frame on a 9-0 run.

The Bloodhounds held Pratt without a field goal for more than six minutes, as they methodically rebuilt their lead by outscoring the visitors 12-5 in the stretch. The home side kept its foot on the proverbial gas despite Pratt breaking its field goal drought, immediately scoring the next 12 points and extending its lead to 78-58 with just over four minutes remaining.

The Bloodhounds' double-digit lead held to the final horn as the team celebrated a, 88-70 Homecoming victory in front of a capacity crowd at The Doghouse.

John Jay's 88 points and 34 made field goals are season-high tallies in both categories. The home team finished the game with 17 steals, a season-high and the most in a single game by the program since the 2023-24 home opener against Old Westbury.

Keyshawn Miller reset his scoring season-high, and matched a game-high by all players, with 20 points on 8-15 shooting. He matched a team-high with 5 assists.

Jamir Stewart finished with a game-high three three-pointers, totaling 17 points.

Syl Granda was one rebound shy of a double-double, finishing with 15 points and 9 rebounds.

NEXT UP: The Bloodhounds return to the floor on Sunday, Dec. 1 when they travel to Madison, N.J. for a 1:00 p.m. tip-off against FDU-Florham.
