Women's Basketball Posts Wire-To-Wire Road Victory At Rosemont In Season Opener

Rosemont, PA - The John Jay women's basketball team, under the direction of eighth-year head coach Lynda Day, opened up the 2024-25 season with an impressive 87-43 road triumph at Rosemont on Saturday afternoon.
 
It was the season opener for both teams.
 
Five Bloodhounds finished in double figures, led by Ashley Zeolla, who poured in a game-high and new career-best 23 points on 10 of 15 shooting. She was one rebound short of a double-double, finishing with nine caroms. The Yorktown Heights, NY native shot 10 of 15 from the field in her 30 minutes of action.
 
Sophomore Michaela Lattimore was next, finishing with 16 points, tying her career-high, on 7 of 11 shooting from the field while corralling eight boards in 24 minutes of play.
 
Natalie Simonds matched her career-high of 15 points on 4 of 8 shooting while connecting on 7 of 8 from the free throw line. The Durham, NH native grabbed five rebounds and dished out a team-leading five helpers while recording two steals in 30 minutes.
 
Newcomers Alexis Jones and Essence Richardson concluded the contest, scoring 11 and 10 points on a combined 10 of 19 from the floor. Richardson grabbed six rebounds, while Jones dished out four assists.
 
Briana Minick tallied six points in her first collegiate game, while Morgan Kimmi scored four, secured seven rebounds, and matched Simonds with two steals. Hadja Bah rounded out the scoring with two and secured four rebounds.
 
Two Ravens scored in double-figures, led by Aniya McDaniel, who tallied 15 points, four assists, a steal, and two blocks. Danaijah Wise was next with 11 points, five rebounds, two assists, and a steal in 38 minutes of work. Olivia Hamme scored six points while leading Rosemont with eight rebounds.
 
The Bloodhounds hit 54.4 percent from the field for the game while limiting Rosemont to just 32.1 percent shooting.
 
Both teams couldn't find their range from the outside, with the Ravens hitting on 2 of 15 while John Jay was held without a made three-pointer.
 
John Jay will continue their road swing on Tuesday, November 13, as they head to The College of New Jersey for a 6:00 p.m. tipoff.
