Men's Volleyball Defeats CCNY, 3-1, On Tuesday Evening

New York, NY - The John Jay men's volleyball team defeated the CCNY Beavers, 3-1 (25-16; 25-20; 17-25; 25-15) on Tuesday evening from the Nat Holman Gymnasium. 
 
With the win, the Bloodhounds move to 15-6 and 8-4 in CUNYAC play while the Beavers fall to 8-11 and 5-8 in the conference. 
 
John Jay was paced by Logan Ramos, who finished with a team-leading 11 kills and eight digs. Jeferson Avila-Macancela posted nine kills while Alex Bridgelall racked up 34 assists, six kills and five digs in the victory. 
 
Prabodh KC finished with 11 kills for the Beavers while Kyrylo Vysotskyy had 27 assists. 
 
First Set - The Bloodhounds rallied from a 3-1 deficit to take a 7-5 lead following a 6-2 run, that was capped by an ace from Stephen Daly. CCNY drew closer with a kill from KC, trimming the John Jay lead to 11-9 before the Bloodhounds staged a 7-2 outburst in taking an 18-11 lead, following the kill from Avila. CCNY narrowed the gap to 20-16 on two straight kills from KC but the visitors rattled off five straight points, the set winner coming on an attack error by KC. 
 
Second Set - The second set nearly mirrored the first set, with CCNY jumping out to an early lead before John Jay answered back with a 5-1 run that made it 9-8 in their favor. Both teams traded off points until a kill from Daly made it set point as the Bloodhounds went ahead, 2-0, on an attack error by Reng Chen. 
 
Third Set - The Bloodhounds opened the third set with a 5-3 lead before it was CCNY's turn to rally. The Beavers staged a 7-2 run in taking an 11-7 lead, thanks to a kill from Edwin Gayton. John Jay outscored CCNY, 9-7, to find themselves down one, 17-16, after an attack error, which led the home team to call for time. When play resumed, the Beavers got on the board, closing out the Bloodhounds on an 8-1 run. 
 
Fourth Set - Back-to-back kills from KC and Cristian Canela gave CCNY the early lead but the Bloodhounds responded, utilizing a 12-4 run to take a 12-6 lead. A 9-3 burst extended the Bloodhounds' lead to 21-9. A kill from Steven Ajazi gave the visitors match point and John Jay earned the final point of the match on an attack error from Vysotskyy. 
 
John Jay will make their final regular season trip of the year on Thursday, March 28, as they will head to Hunter College for a 6:00 p.m. start.
