Men's Volleyball Falls To Hunter On Thursday Evening

New York, NY - The John Jay men's volleyball team concluded their final regular season road match on Thursday evening, as the Bloodhounds fell to the Hunter College Hawks, 3-0 (16-25, 15-25, 14-25). 
 
With the loss, the Bloodhounds fall to 15-7 overall and 8-5 in CUNYAC play while the Hawks move to 14-10 and 11-2 in league matches. 
 
Logan Ramos led the way with six kills while Kyle Barriffe-Johnson added four. Stephen Daly finished with a team-high five digs while Alex Bridgellal had four. 
 
Kyle Foley had 11 kills and five digs to pace Hunter. Jon Pflueger finished with six kills, three aces, and two digs. 
 
First Set - The Bloodhounds held a slim 2-1 lead following a bad set from Cooper Moran. From there, Hunter staged an 8-2 run in taking a 9-3 advantage following an attack error. John Jay responded by cutting the deficit to at least three points on four occasions, 11-8 on a block by Maxwell Law, 12-9 following a kill from Ramos, and a pair of service errors at 10-13 and 11-14. The Hawks concluded the set on a 10-3 run, as Pflueger and Annes Deljanin posted the block to take the first set. 
 
Second Set - John Jay recorded two of three kills to start the second set before Hunter responded with three straight points, two aces from Pflueger. An attack error evened the set at 5-5 before the Hawks went ahead by two, 7-5. The Bloodhounds kept pace, tying the set at 11-11 following an attack error by Pflueger thanks to a block by Barriffe-Johnson and Jaden Lamarre. Hunter closed the set on a 13-4 run, capped by a kill from Deljanin. 
 
Third Set - Hunter jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the third set following an ace from Ted Kim. The Bloodhounds answered back with a 5-2 run that knotted the set at 6-6 as Ramos posted an ace before Barriffe-Johnson blocked the attack from Foley. Both teams traded points that made it 8-8 after a kill from Ramos. The Hawks built an 12-3 run to increase the lead to 20-11 following a kill from Foley. When play resumed after a John Jay timeout, the Bloodhounds rattled off two straight points before a service error from Ramos. The Hawks finished the match with four straight points, capped by an ace from Lucas George. 
 
The Bloodhounds conclude the 2024 regular season on Tuesday, April 2 as they will host York for Senior Night. 
 
John Jay will recognize their six senior student-athletes: Logan Ramos, Kyle Barriffe-Johnson, Stephen Daly, Jeferson Avila, Alex Bridgellal, and Akashdeep Singh.
