New York, NY - The 2024 John Jay women's soccer, guided by head coach
Ajani Clunie, will look for their fourth CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) title in the last five years as the Bloodhounds open the season on Saturday morning at Old Westbury.
Before the season opener, Joey Jarzynka spoke with Coach Clunie as he previews this year's team.
COACH CLUNIE FEATURED...
- Head Coach Ajani Clunie had a busy summer. Coach Clunie first attended the 2024 College Sports Communicators (CSC) Convention in Las Vegas as he earned a grant to attend the event.Â
- At the convention, he met presenter Chris Gargano and Gargano extended an invite to Coach Clunie to speak on his podcast - It's All In The Details | Keep The Line Moving with Chris Gargano.Â

KICKING IT AROUND...
- The 2024 Bloodhounds return 11 players from last season's squad that reached the CUNYAC championship match, which includes CUNYAC All-Stars Alexandria Nembhard, Mikayla Schoch, and Zoe Specht.
- Additionally, Lucia Giangaspero, who was named to the 2023 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Women's All-Region IV Third Team, returns to the mix in the midfield.
- Coach Clunie brought in eight newcomers - graduate forwards Olivia Boucher and Surya Nero along with first-year student-athletes Gianna Duarte, Morgan Torres, Lillith Eaton, Anna Wehr, Sophia Arias, and goalkeeper Cailyn MacLellan.
ALL-TIME VS. OLD WESTBURY....
- Saturday's contest marks just the eighth all-time meeting between the two schools with Old Westbury holding a slim 4-3 advantage.
- The Bloodhounds are riding a three-match win streak over the Panthers, having outscored Old Westbury 10-3 in their last three matchups.
- The Bloodhounds took last season's meeting, 4-1, as 2023 CUNYAC Player of the Year, Nora O'Connor, recorded a hat trick in the victory.

- John Jay will remain on the road as they travel to Brooklyn to square off against St. Joseph's University - Brooklyn on September 4.
