Michael Moore Tabbed Head Men's And Women's Tennis Coach

New York, NY - Michael Moore has been named head coach of the John Jay men's and women's tennis program, Director of Athletics Cat Alves announced.

"We are excited to welcome Michael to the John Jay community as our new head tennis coach," said Alves. "Coach Moore brings a wealth of experience in player development. His passion for the game and experience as a coach and student-athlete make him an exceptional fit for our program. We are confident that both programs will excel under his leadership."

Since 2019, Moore has assisted in creating personalized developmental plans for high-level juniors at Player Development Consulting and serving as an ITF/USTA Travel Coach, where he has developed multiple top-100 ITF juniors.

"I would like to thank Cat Alves, Brandon Fieland, and the John Jay College community for the great opportunity to lead the men's and women's tennis programs," said Moore. "Looking forward to this journey working with our student-athletes and being part of the Bloodhound family."

In addition to his work with Player Development Consulting and being an ITF/USTA Travel Coach, Moore worked for the John McEnroe Tennis Academy as an Elite+Pro/Program Director, where he coached, mentored, and trained juniors.

"With his background in collegiate tennis coupled with strong connections within the tennis community, I am confident that our men's and women's tennis teams will be in a position to succeed," commented Fieland.

Moore's first foray into the coaching realm came in the Summer of 2011, as he worked with the New York Junior Tennis League (NYJTL). At NYJTL, he provided instructional tennis lessons to children ranging from ages 8 to 16.

He got his first collegiate coaching gig in August of 2011 when he returned to his alma mater Florida A&M, where he served as an assistant coach of the men's team. As part of the Rattlers staff, he was instrumental in the recruiting efforts while mentoring the team that finished the year with a 15-10 overall record and a 4-1 mark in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). Florida A&M reached the MEAC Championship that season.

From Florida A&M, Moore accepted a position at Gotham Tennis Academy where he was in the role of head tennis professional. At Gotham Tennis Academy, he coached, mentored, and trained players of all ages during group and private lessons.

Moore was recruited to Florida A&M as a student-athlete. He was a four-year team captain while amassing over 90 singles wins and 60 doubles victories during his time in Tallahassee. Moore was a MEAC Second Team selection in 2008 and was named to the First Team in 2010.

He graduated Cum Laude while receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science with a concentration in Economics.
