Women's Tennis Falls In Season And Conference Opener At Hunter On Saturday Afternoon

Flushing, NY - In the first match under new head coach Michael Moore, the John Jay women's tennis team commenced its season at the USTA National Tennis Center in a CUNYAC opener against Hunter College.

The Bloodhounds were defeated by the Hawks, 5-0.

Hunter swept the doubles matches. The Bloodhound duo of Kayla Saintard and Rose Azzu fought valiantly at No. 2 before falling to Sara Contreras and Sara Noro, 8-4.

Contreras defeated Manuela Orrego, 6-1; 6-0 at No. 2 before the Hawks claimed the match at No. 4 singles as Julia Aksamentora defeated Flor Caro, 6-0; 6-0 at No. 4.

The Bloodhounds will be back in action on Tuesday, September 17 as they will travel to Purchase, NY to tangle with the Purchase College Panthers.

First-serve is set for 4:00 p.m.
