Patchogue, NY -Â The John Jay women's volleyball team hit the road again on Saturday, this time for its second tri-match of the season after winning its home opener two days prior.
The Bloodhounds traveled to the Danzi Athletic Center to face host St. Joseph's University - Long Island (SJLI) and Albertus Magnus in back-to-back matches, dropping their first match against the hosts and finishing victorious over Albertus Magnus.

The Bloodhounds struggled to keep pace with the high-powered Golden Eagles attack through three sets. The Eagles averaged 13 kills per set and hit .283 as a team in a match they never trailed in.
Josanne Lewis was the Bloodhounds' offensive leader, finishing with her second double-double of the season on 11 kills and 11 digs.The Bloodhounds managed to tie the third set three times, but fell in the deciding frame 21-25.
Newcomer Leah Kaplan, a transfer from Mars Hill University, made her debut as a setter in the third set of the match, finishing with three assists and one dig with no errors. Kristin Gretener led the way with 16 digs. Meghan Smith tallied 12 assists.
Jackie Wolf paced the Golden Eagles with 15 kills and 13 digs. Katie D'Angelo had 27 assists while Sarah Montefusco recorded 14 digs.
John Jay 3, Albertus Magnus 0 ||Â (25-16, 25-19, 25-20)
The Bloodhounds regrouped in the second match of the day. Reilly Catan led the way with ten kills while adding six digs and adding two aces.
Paige Sadowitz notched five blocks. Kaplan continued her impressive debut, adding 11 assists to lead the way. Malia Reyes had 12 digs while serving up four aces in the three-set win.
Albertus Magnus was paced by Majo Pelaez, who finished with 11 kills. Shalese Gordon tallied 19 assists while Amanda Zdru was credited with a match-high 24 digs.
After Peleaz recorded a kill for Albertus Magnus, the Bloodhound went on an 8-1 run taking an 8-2 lead. A kill from Theresa Schmitt pushed the lead to six, 9-3, but the Falcons responded with four straight points, cutting the deficit down to two, 9-7, in the first set.
A 6-1 burst by John Jay upped the lead to 15-8, thanks to a kill from Catan. Albertus Magnus got to within three, 16-13, but the Bloodhounds quickly responded by closing out the set, 9-3, thanks to a kill from Nina Bongiovanni.
In the second set, Albertus Magnus took a 5-3 lead thanks to three straight kills, two coming from Gordon.
John Jay sparked a 9-1 run in the later stages of the set, taking an 18-11 advantage, thanks to a kill from Bongiovanni from Kaplan. Ellmedina Hodzic posted back-to-back aces, increasing the lead to 21-13. The Falcons rallied, trimming the lead down to 23-19 before a kill by Catan and an ace from Kaplan, sealing the set.
Albertus Magnus took a slim 3-2 lead before John Jay posted six straight points, capped by a kill from Hannah Knox. The Falcons rallied to trail by one on two occasions, the latter when Yarieshka Sierra posted a kill, to make it 20-19.
John Jay sealed the match with a 5-1 run, with Sadowitz recording an ace before Rylea Sandel killed the rally, securing the win for the Bloodhounds.
John Jay closes out the road trip on Tuesday, September 10, as they will travel to Madison, NJ to tangle with Drew University. First-serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
