Sebastian Sanchez Named CUNYAC Player and Rookie Of The Week

Flushing, NY - John Jay freshman first baseman Sebastian Sanchez was tabbed CUNYAC Baseball Player and Rookie of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

For the Flushing, NY native, this marks his first Player of the Week accolade and the third time this season he has earned Rookie of the Week honors (April 14, March 31, March 3). Additionally, he was named Pitcher of the Week back on March 10.
 



Sanchez batted .462 (6-13) in a 3-1 week for the Bloodhounds, with two runs scored, three doubles, and seven runs batted in.  He went 3-4 in a win over Purchase Monday with two doubles and two runs scored.  He also tossed a scoreless ninth in relief against the Panthers at Heritage Financial Park, the home of the Hudson Valley Renegades (Single-A affiliate of the New York Yankees).

After going 1-3 at FDU-Florham, Sanchez went 2-6 with two walks and three RBI in a conference sweep of Baruch Thursday.

Sanchez and the Bloodhounds travel to Cortland, NY, to tangle with the SUNY Cortland Dragons in a doubleheader Tuesday, April 15.
