New York, NY - The John Jay women's basketball team led from the opening tip to notch an 82-33 road triumph over CCNY on Wednesday evening.
John Jay (5-13; 3-4 CUNYAC) had three players score in double-digits, led by
Michaela Lattimore, who notched her 14th double-double of the season and 11th straight, finishing with a game-high 19 points on 8 of 16 shooting while corralling 19 caroms, matching her career-high.
Miah Crockett recorded 14 points, hitting on 8 of 11 from the charity stripe while grabbing five rebounds, dishing out four assists, and adding two steals in 21 minutes of action.
Natalie Simonds chipped in 10 points on 4 of 8 shooting while collecting six rebounds, dishing out a team-high five assists, and setting a new career-high with five steals.
All ten players scored in the contest and also recorded a steal, while eight of the ten Bloodhounds dished out at least two assists in the victory.
Ashley Colon, Ashley Subervi, and Joscelyn Ramos all had seven points on a combined 8 of 35 shooting. Amanda Fisher pulled down 13 rebounds while Subervi added nine caroms.
The Bloodhounds put the first ten points on the board in the contest before the Beavers cut the deficit down to five, 12-7, on a Colon layup. John Jay embarked on a 16-4 run that extended midway into the second quarter, as the visitors led 28-11 following a layup from
Briana Minick.
The Bloodhounds continued its torrid shooting, converting on 7 of 16 from the floor in posting a 17-7 run to close out the second quarter as the Bloodhounds led 45-18. The Bloodhounds continued their scoring prowess on the strength of a 12-1 run, following a pair of made free throws from Crockett, that made it 57-19. John Jay scored seven of the final 12 points of the quarter to extend their lead to 64-24.
Aaliyah Hemenes started the fourth quarter with a jumper off the feed by
Essence Richardson, as John Jay outscored CCNY, 18-9, as John Jay went 8 of 16 from the field while limiting the Beavers to 3 of 12 shooting.
For the game, the Bloodhounds shot 35.5 percent from the field while holding CCNY to just 22.0 shooting for the game.
The Bloodhounds pulled down a season-high 68 rebounds to the Beavers' 50.
John Jay forced 36 turnovers in the contest.
The Bloodhounds return to the court on Saturday, January 24, as they will host York at 1:00 p.m.
