Mahwah, NJ - The John Jay men's volleyball team dropped both games of the Rampao Tri-Match, falling to Sage 3-1 (22-25, 14-25, 25-22, 22-25) and the host Roadrunners, 3-0 (16-25, 23-25, 18-25).
With Saturday's outcome, the Bloodhounds fall to 5-5 on the season overall.
John Jay 1, Sage 3
Nick Fuentes led the way for the Bloodhounds with nine kills and six digs.
Joshua Acevedo and
Adam Bainey each had eight kills.
Logan Ramos finished with three assists and a team-high nine digs.
Jimmy Thinlay registered 22 assists while adding seven digs.
Dylan Fox and Sean Pingelski each recorded 11 kills for the Gators with Fox adding four aces and seven digs. Eliseo Nogueras III notched 11 digs to lead the way for Sage.
After Sage took the opening two sets, John Jay responded with its best attacking stretch in the third - registering 14 kills in the frame while hitting .281 to extend the match.
The Gators answered in the fourth behind a balanced attack, finishing with 51 kills, seven aces and seven blocks to close out the win.
John Jay 0, Ramapo 3
In the second match of the day, John Jay recorded 25 kills, .141 hitting, adding five aces, four blocks, and 31 digs. Fuentes again led the way with eight kills and two service aces, while Acevedo added six kills. Thinlay dished out 21 assists and contributed two blocks, and Ramos posted a match-high ten digs to anchor the back line.
Amari Menter led the way with 15 kills for Ramapo and five digs. Jan Tracz added 11 kills and seven digs.
Joseph Duca tallied 30 assists and five digs while Sean McNally registered a match-high 11 digs.
The second set proved to be John Jay's strongest stretch of the evening, as the Bloodhounds battled point-for-point and pushed Ramapo to a 25-23 decision.
The hosts regained control in the third to complete the sweep.
The Bloodhounds resume CUNYAC play on Thursday, February 19 as they travel to Baruch for a 7:00 p.m. first-serve.
