Annapolis, MD - In the final tune-up before the 2026 MAC Rifle Championships, the John Jay rifle team headed down to Annapolis, Maryland, to compete in the annual NCAA Qualifier at the United States Naval Academy.
The Bloodhounds tallied an aggregate score of 4298, hitting a combined 114 centers over the two disciplines. Shooting against their counterparts, Navy shot 4733, connecting on 335 total centers.
Leading the way for the Bloodhounds in smallbore was
Danny Canning, totaling a 550 to place 11th overall.
The MAC Rifle Smallbore Athlete of the Week, JB Zhao, was next at 530, followed by
Marian Kopram (512),
Bryan Gomez (497),
Cassidy Derosia (471), Noelia Gonzalez (467), and
Allana Dan (459).
In air rifle, John Jay was paced by
Mahek Dalwala, who connected on 29 centers to finish at 577. Canning was next at 572, while Derosia (560),
Elaine Yue (547), Dan (544), Gomez (542), Zhao (542),
Maria Belov (541), Kopram (530), and Gonzalez (526) all concluded the shooting.
The 2026 Mid-Atlantic Rifle Championship is set to commence on Saturday, February 28 for smallbore and March 1 for air rifle at MIT.
