New York, NY - For the second straight week, John Jay women's volleyball keeps the CUNYAC Player and Rookie of the Week honors. Junior outside hitter Emilia Cascapera repeated as Player of the Week while Ansley Hobson was tabbed Rookie of the Week.
Cascapera racked up 89 kills across 16 sets at the Buttermaker Tournament, averaging 5.56 kills per set while hitting .371. She highlighted the weekend with 29 kills—the second-most in a match by a John Jay player since 2011—in a four-set victory over Rutgers-Camden. Cascapera helped the Bloodhounds finish 2-2 at the tournament, also contributing 15 service aces, nine digs and three blocks.
Hobson recorded 24 kills while contributing as both a setter and attacker during four matches at the Buttermaker Tournament. She posted 10 kills, 26 assists, 12 digs, four blocks and two service aces in a four-set victory over Rutgers-Camden. Hobson added nine kills on .438 hitting, 16 assists, five digs and two aces in John Jay's four-set win over Hood.
Cascapera, Hobson and the rest of the Bloodhounds return home to the Doghouse on Thursday, September 17 as they will square off against Montclair State at 7:00 p.m.
