Box Score The men's tennis team powered its way to a 5-1 victory over Brooklyn College on Wednesday afternoon at the Wayne Indoor Tennis Club in Wayne, NJ. The Bloodhounds improve its record to 5-11 on the season and advance to the CUNYAC semifinals for the second straight year. The Bulldogs conclude their season with a 4-8 overall record.
In doubles, the duo of freshman
Rafayel Rafayelyan and senior
Richard Mills defeated Brooklyn's number one doubles team, 8-5. At number three, the tandem of junior
Carlos Negron and sophomore
Jowel Ahmed cruised to an 8-2 win to give John Jay a 2-1 lead after doubles play.
In singles, Rafayelyan won at the top seed, 6-1, 6-3. In the fourth spot, Negron came out with a 6-1, 6-2 victory to give the Bloodhounds a 4-1 advantage. In the final singles seed, J. Ahmed was victorious, 6-0, 6-1, to give John Jay the 5-1 win.
The Bloodhounds will face the winner of the #2 Baruch College vs. #7 York College match on Sunday, May 1, at 2:30 pm at Queens College.
