Kings Park, NY - The John Jay women's cross country team competed at the St. Joseph's University – LI Invitational at Sunken Meadow State Park on Saturday morning. The Bloodhounds concluded the 5K meet in 11th place.
Monroe College (New Rochelle) took home the title with a time of 1:47.13 followed by New Paltz (1:48.36) and St. Thomas Aquinas (1:49.17). The Bloodhounds posted a total time of 2:11.14.
Monroe's Attoya Harvey claimed the individual crown, crossing the finish line first with a time of 19:36.8. Zoe Merryman of St. Thomas Aquinas was next at 19:37.9 while Harvey's teammate, Kayla Johnson, rounded out the top-three with a time of 20:04.3.
Jennifer Herrera was John Jay's top performer in the meet, producing a time of 25:30.3 (8:12.5 avg. mile). Classmates
Morgan Boyle (26:04.9 | 8:23.6 avg. mile) and
Heavenly Evangelista (26:04.9 | 8:23.6) were the next fastest Bloodhounds to finish the race.
Other notable performances from the SJLI Invitational meet include:
- Eva Garcia finished the meet in 26:19.6 (8:28.4 avg. mile)
- Kimberly Ramriez-Tepoz and Julia Murray finished in 27:14.1 (8:45.9 avg. mile) and 27:15.8 (8:46.5 avg. mile), respectively.
- Kamola Temirova ran across the finish line in 28:05.0 (9:02.3 avg. mile).
- Elda Chavarria (32:00.5) and Litzy Hernandez (42:59.9) rounded out the performances for the Bloodhounds.
The Bloodhounds are scheduled to compete at the Medgar Evers College Legacy Invitational on Sunday, October 22.
