Women's Cross Country Finishes Second Overall At 2023 CUNYAC Cross Country Championships

Bronx, NY - The John Jay women's cross country team closed out the 2023 regular season with a second-place finish at the CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Championship.
 
The Bloodhounds scored 44 points, just a mere five points behind Hunter, as John Jay posted a total time of 2:34.42 (average time of 30:56). This marks the fifth time since 2013 that the Bloodhounds have finished second at the CUNYAC Championships and first time since 2019. 

The Hawks tallied 39 points to finish the meet with a total time of 2:32.38 (average time of 30:31). Baruch rounded out the top-three with 90 points in 2:43.56 (average time of 32:47). 

 

 
Individually, Baruch's Paz Moran won the individual title with a time of 26:48.4 (7:11.4 average mile). 
 
Kenia Irish-Bramble of Medgar Evers finished second in 28:07.4 (7:32.6 average mile) while Hunter's Wendy Montiel was third, crossing the finish line in 28:13.6 (7:34.2 average mile). 
 
Leading the way for the Bloodhounds during this morning's run was Morgan Boyle, who checked in sixth overall, with a time of 29:35.8 (7:56.3 average mile). 
 
Teammate Eva Garcia was next in seventh place, clocking in at 30:18.7 (8:07.8 average mile) while Jennifer Herrera rounded out the top-10 with a finals time of 30:43.7 (8:14.5 average mile). 
 
The stellar performances continued to flourish for the Bloodhounds, as Heavenly Evangelista produced a time of 31:03.7 (average mile 8:19.8) to conclude the race in 11th place. Skylah Nix closed out the top-15 performers with a time of 33:00.7 (8:51.2 average mile). 
 
For Boyle, Garcia, Herrera, Evangelista, and Nix, they were named CUNYAC All-Stars, having finished among the top-15 harriers in the race. 
 
Other notable performances by the Bloodhounds came from Kimberly Ramirez-Tepoz, who checked in with a time of 33:55.3 (9:05.8 average mile) to place 22nd overall. 
 
Julia Murray was the next Bloodhound to finish, turning in a time of 34:00.1 (9:07.1 average mile) in finishing 23rd overall. 
 
Rounding out the finishes for John Jay included Kamola Temirova, who was 31st with a time of 35:20.0 (9:28.6) while Elda Chavarria posted a time of 39:31.9 (10:36.1 average mile) to place 46th. 
 
Following the conclusion of the award ceremony, the Bloodhounds recognized their 2023 Senior Class.
 
Boyle was recognized as the lone senior athlete for the 2023 squad.
