Men's Volleyball Remains Unbeaten At The Doghouse, Blanks Yeshiva On Tuesday Evening

New York, NY - The John Jay men's volleyball team shut out the Yeshiva University Maccabees, 3-0 (25-14; 25-13; 25-19) on Tuesday evening from The Doghouse. 
 
With the win, the Bloodhounds move to 4-2 overall on the season while the Maccabees fall to 3-2. 
 

 
Akashdeep Singh, the newly minted CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Men's Volleyball Player of the Week, led the way for the Bloodhounds with nine kills, a dig, and an ace. 
 
Logan Ramos notched six kills, three aces, four digs. Bryce Glasper notched a team-leading nine digs while Alex Bridgelall was credited with a team-high 22 assists. 
 
Amitai Kolom led the way for the Maccabees with five kills, a team-high three digs, and two assists. Eli Waxman tallied a team-leading eight assists and recorded a team-best six digs, matching Avi Braun's total. 
 
The first set was evenly matched until the Bloodhounds began to create separation. With the score tied at 8-8 following an ace by Shmuel Aberman, John Jay rattled off a 7-1 run to take a 16-9 advantage, thanks to an ace from Jack Nugent
 
Nugent helped seal the first set win with two kills that capped an 8-4 run by the Bloodhounds for the 25-14 win. 
 
The second set started in similar fashion to the first set with both teams trading points as Yeshiva held a slim 5-4 following an attack error. 
 
John Jay got back in the set, thanks to a 20-6 outburst, anchored by Ramos, who posted three aces down the stretch. 
 
The Bloodhounds trailed early in the third set until Steven Ajazi recorded an ace that made it 6-3 in favor of the home team. 
 
Yeshiva claimed a slim 9-8 edge on a service error by Stephen Daly, but the Bloodhounds quickly eradicated the deficit, using a 12-4 run in building a 20-13 lead, thanks to a kill by Daly from De Stefani. 
 
Overall, John Jay outscored Yeshiva, 17-10, to preserve the three-set triumph. 
 
The Bloodhounds will be back on the court on Thursday, February 16, as they open up CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) play against Hunter at 6:00 p.m.
