Jadyn Orava Named CUNYAC Women's Volleyball Player of the Year; Madison Mullan Tabbed Rookie of the Year; Head Coach Austin Voges Earns Second Straight Coach of the Year Honors

New York, NY - On Friday morning, the CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) announced the 2025 Women's Volleyball All-Conference awards and teams. For the third straight season, both the Player and Rookie of the Year honors will be housed at The Doghouse as sophomore outside hitter Jadyn Orava was named Player of the Year, while freshman middle blocker Madison Mullan was named Rookie of the Year.

Head Coach Austin Voges collected his second straight Coach of the Year honor. Additionally, Orava and Mullan, along with Adrienne Xiao (First Team) and Lizbeth Martinez (Second Team), earned All-Conference honors, with Hailey Waugaman being named to the Sportsmanship Team.

Orava becomes the Bloodhounds' third straight Player of the Year recipient, joining Josanne Lewis, who earned the honors in 2023 and 2024. An eight-time CUNYAC Player of the Week and two-time AVCA Division III Player of the Week honoree, Orava posted 465 kills on .302 hitting. She is currently the nation's leader in kills per set (5.11), points per set (5.85), and is fourth nationally in total kills. A multi-faceted player, Orava had served up 56 aces (eighth most in the conference), recorded 215 digs, and 20 total blocks. She has produced 20 or more kills in a match 11 times and recorded ten double-doubles. She went for a career-high 30 kills in the regular season finale against Mount Saint Mary. On Thursday evening against No. 4 seed Hunter, she finished with 15 kills on .281 hitting while adding seven digs.

Mullan becomes John Jay's third straight Rookie of the Year selection and fourth in program history, joining Areis Reyes (2000), Waugaman (2023), and Julia Stuart (2024). The Saratoga Springs, NY native recorded 207 kills on the season while producing ten assists, 61 aces (seventh-most in CUNYAC), and ranked third in the conference in total blocks with 70 and third in blocks per set (0.74).

Coach Voges garners a second straight Coach of the Year award. Voges, in his fourth year as bench boss of the Bloodhounds, guided the 2025 team to the program's first-ever regular season title with a 7-0 conference mark. The Bloodhounds are making their third straight championship appearance on Friday evening. Voges, through Thursday's semifinal match against Hunter, is 77-36 in his tenure with the program and has guided the Bloodhounds to 22 wins in back-to-back seasons.

Xiao put forth a stellar freshman campaign as the Bloodhounds setter. The La Verne, CA native collected four Rookie of the Week honors during the season, in which she ranks second in aces per set (0.87), seventh nationally, among the top-40 in the country in assists per set (9.42), and has racked up 810 total assists, good for second in the conference this season. Xiao recorded a career-high 52 assists against Rutgers-Newark back on October 4th and had 13 matches in which she had 30 or more assists.

Martinez helped solidify the Bloodhounds' defense as the first-year libero was named to the Second Team this season. The San Juan, PR native recorded 18 kills, 57 assists, 53 aces (eighth in the conference), and 282 total digs (sixth most in the league). Martinez had four matches in which she produced at least 20 digs, highlighted by a 22-dig outing against FDU-Florham back on October 2.

Waugaman returned to form in 2025 following a pair of injuries. The Tucson, AZ native notched 61 kills in 74 sets while adding career-highs in assists (15), aces (34), and digs (160). Against Alvernia (October 25), she served up a career-best seven aces.

The Bloodhounds go for their second straight CUNYAC title later this evening against No. 3 seed Brooklyn College. First-serve from Arc Arena on the campus of Baruch College is set for 6:30 p.m.
