New York, NY - The John Jay women's volleyball team was recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for their work in the classroom during the 2024-25 year with an AVCA Team Academic Award, sponsored by INTENT.

The Bloodhounds are the only team from the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) to be named to this year's list.

The Team Academic Award, initiated in 1992 by the AVCA, recognizes teams' dedication to the sport of volleyball with excellence in the classroom. Teams must maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative team GPA on a 4.0 scale for the school year or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.

During the year, the Bloodhounds had five members named to the CUNYAC Vice Chancellor's Honor Roll (
Reilly Catan,
Kristin Gretener,
Madison Reyes,
Paige Sadowitz, and
Meghan Smith) while four Bloodhounds (Catan, Gretener,
Malia Reyes, and Smith) were named to the 2024 Academic All-District Team, selected by College Sports Communicators.

John Jay secured the program's first-ever CUNYAC title, defeating Hunter College in the championship match. The Bloodhounds finished the year with 22 wins, the second most in program history, and tied their best mark with 11 wins at home.

For the second straight year, the Bloodhounds swept CUNYAC Player and Rookie of the Year awards with
Josanne Lewis repeating as Player of the Year and
Julia Stuart named Rookie of the Year, while head coach
Austin Voges was named Coach of the Year.
