New York, NY - John Jay Interim Director of Athletics Brandon Fieland has announced the hiring of Jonathan Vasquez as the Bloodhounds' new head men's volleyball coach.

His passion, coaching background, and dedication to cultivating a championship culture are an ideal match. We're excited for the future of our men's volleyball program under his leadership."

Coach Vasquez is also a coach at Northeast Volleyball Club in Norwalk, CT, and serves as an Admissions Advisor at AMDA College of the Performing Arts and Recruiting Coordinator/Coach/Assistant Director for NYC Impact Volleyball Club.

Since entering college, Vasquez has been involved in coaching. He began at Legacy Volleyball Club, where he started as an assistant coach before eventually becoming a head coach. Additionally, he also served as the boys' director, playing a crucial role in establishing a solid foundation for the program.

Coach Vasquez would spend the next five years at NYC Impact Club, where he was the head coach for the 15-18 age group. He also served as assistant boys' director and helped oversee the growth and success of the club.

At Monroe College, he spent three seasons coaching the women's team and two with the men's program. As a coach on the women's team, he led them to two national appearances and a runner-up performance in the 2023 National Championship as part of the men's program.

Coach Vasquez was directly responsible for the recruiting efforts of both programs, bringing in over 50 athletes that helped elevate the program to success.

In 2023, Coach Vasquez was awarded the AVCA Thirty Under 30 Award and is an active member of the AVCA.

Vasquez graduated from CUNY New York City College of Technology with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree.
