New York, NY - John Jay women's basketball freshman guard
Miah Crockett was tabbed CUNYAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
For the Kansas City, MO native, this marks her first Rookie of the Week accolade.
In two games at CCNY and on Saturday against York, the Kansas City, MO native averaged 15.0 points per game in 22.0 minutes per contest.
The first-year guard shot 42.1 percent from the field while connecting on 50.0 percent from long range. Crockett grabbed 5.5 rebounds, dished out 2.5 assists, and 2.0 steals in those two victories.
At CCNY, Crockett scored 14 points, eight of those coming on 8 of 11 shooting from the free-throw line while adding five rebounds, dishing out four assists, and swiping two steals in 21 minutes of action.
On Saturday against York at The Doghouse, Crockett went off for 16 points on 5 of 10 shooting, going 2 of 4 from the outside and also 4 of 8 from the free-throw line. She added six rebounds and two steals along with a block.
In addition to Crockett being named Rookie of the Week,
Michaela Lattimore was named CUNYAC Honorable Mention Player of the Week. Lattimore averaged 15.0 points per game while pulling down 16.5 rebounds in 25.0 minutes of play. The Morristown, NJ native shot 42.3 percent from the field and connected on 80.0 percent from the free-throw line while adding 3.0 assists, 2.0 steals per game and 1.5 blocks per contest.
Against CCNY on the road, Lattimore went 8 of 16 from the field while netting 19 points in 27 minutes and pulling down 19 rebounds, seven of which coming on the offensive end. She added four helpers, two blocks and a steal as well. At home against York, she logged 23 minutes, finishing with 11 points but corralled 14 rebounds, had two assists, a block and three steals. She has now recorded a double-double in 12 straight games and has 15 double-doubles this season.
Crockett, Lattimore and the Bloodhounds will take on Hunter on Friday evening at the Hunter Sportsplex at 5:00 pm.
