New York, NY - John Jay men's basketball senior guard
Jamir Stewart was named CUNYAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon.
For the Baldwin, NY native, this marks the second time in his career that he has earned the honor, after picking up the final honor of the 2024-25 season.
Stewart averaged 20.5 points per game in two road games against last season's national runner-up, NYU, and opening 2026 at Sage. The senior guard shot 40.9 percent from the field while hitting on 41.2 percent from three-point range. Additionally, Stewart connected at an 88.9 percent clip from the free-throw line.
In the final game of 2025 at NYU, Stewart netted 17 points, two of which were a milestone, as at the 16:17 mark of the second half, he made both from the free-throw line to become the 15th Bloodhound in program history to reach 1,000 points.
At Sage on Friday, he totaled 24 points, going 5 of 11 from behind the arc and 9 of 10 at the free-throw line.
Stewart and the defending CUNYAC champions will resume CUNYAC play on Wednesday when Hunter pays a visit to The Doghouse.
