New York, NY - For the second time this season, John Jay women's basketball freshman guard
Bryan Bascones was named CUNYAC Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday afternoon.
The Worcester, MA native averaged 12.5 points per game while logging 30.2 minutes and shooting 47.6 percent from the field and 71.4 percent from the charity stripe. Bascones aided the rebounding efforts, grabbing 7.5 per game while dishing out 3.0 assists, tallying 1.5 steals and blocks per game while also dishing out 3.0 assists per game, tallying 1.5 steals per game and 1.5 blocks per game.
Against Brooklyn, Bascones went for 12 points on 5 of 12 shooting from the floor, her 10th double-double scoring game this season. She added five rebounds, two blocks and two steals in her 33 minutes of action.
On Senior Day against CCNY, the first-year guard tallied 13 points on 5 of 9 shooting from the field while securing her second double-double of the season, securing 10 rebounds, six coming on the offensive end. Bascones dished out four helpers and had a block and a steal in 27 minutes of work.
The first-year guard is ranked among the top-20 in scoring this year, while placing in the top-15 in rebounds, and top-10 in field goal percentage (44.1%)
