Box Score The men's basketball team fell to PSU Mont-Alto on Sunday afternoon, 61-60, in the consolation game of the Team Hill Holiday Classic. The Bloodhounds fall to 2-9 on the season. PSU Mont-Alto improves to 8-4 overall.
Once again, senior
Kris Owens led the Bloodhounds with a double-double. The Queens native recorded a game-high 19 points, a game-high 14 rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Sophomore
Ronald Merriwether got the start and registered 12 points and eight rebounds. Senior
Darell Robinson had 11 points, dished out a team-high four assists, and swiped a game-high three steals.
Junior
Kendal Jordan had a game-high two blocks to go along with six rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Senior
Korede Griffith added six points, five rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block. Junior
Calvin Ingram came off the bench and recorded eight rebounds, including six offensive.
At the half, John Jay trailed 33-23. The Bloodhounds outscored PSU Mont-Alto in the second half by a margin of 37-28.
For his efforts over the weekend, Owens was named to the Team Hill Holiday Classic All-Tournament Team.
The Bloodhounds return to conference play on Friday, January 2, at 3pm. The game will be played at the College of Mount Saint Vincent.
