The women's swimming team defeated the York Cardinals, 95-75, on Monday evening in Jamaica, NY. The Bloodhounds improve to 6-3 on the season and 3-2 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. The Cardinals drop to 0-9 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
Of the 11 scoring events, John Jay picked up six first place finishes. Sophomore
Alyssa DeVito and
Bokey Wong recorded two first-place wins. DeVito swam the 200 SC meter freestyle in 2:38.38 and 400 SC meter freestyle in 5:40.82. In the 800 SC meter freestyle and 100 SC meter freestyle, Wong finished in 11:21.29 and 1:20.36, respectively.
In event 4, freshman
Melissa Cornelio finished first in the 50 SC meter freestyle in a time of 33.00. John Jay's final first place finish was in the 200 SC meter freestyle relay. The tandem of Wong, sophomore
Andrea Antoni, junior
Jenell Stott-Hodge, and freshman
Christina Parthenis finished in 2:24.28.
The Bloodhounds travel to Hunter College on Tuesday, January 13, for their final meet of the season. The meet is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
