The women's swimming team closed out the 2014-2015 regular season schedule with a loss to the Hunter Hawks, 59-32, on Tuesday evening on the campus of Hunter College. The Bloodhounds finish the season with a 6-4 overall record and 3-3 conference record. The Hawks improve to 9-1 on the season and remain undefeated in the conference with a 6-0 record.
With the Bloodhounds down 7-0 after the first event, sophomore
Alyssa DeVito placed first in the 1000 yard freestyle in a time of 12:53.08. In the next event, the 50 yard freestyle, freshman
Bokey Wong finished 0.74 seconds behind the first place finisher with a time of 2:16.57.
John Jay received five points in the 100 yard backstroke when junior
Samantha Valenzuela finished in 1:34.52. In the final event, the Bloodhounds received seven points after the tandem of freshman
Melissa Cornelio, Wong, junior
Kaylie Bruce, and DeVito finished the 200 yard freestyle in 1:58.47.
The Bloodhounds' six wins this season was its best since the 2011-2012 season.
The swim team will travel to San Juan, Puerto Rico on Monday, January 19, for their third annual winter training trip. Following their four day trip, the Bloodhounds will compete in the CUNYAC championship from February 6 - February 8.
