Bronx, NY - The John Jay men's cross country team competed at the Queensborough Community College Invitational on Sunday morning at Van Cortlandt Park.
The Bloodhounds finished seventh out of 20 schools that competed in the meet, posting a total time of 2:52.51 (34:34 average time). Felician took home the team title with a time of 2:35.42 followed by Monroe College (NR) at 2:37.04 and Hunter College at 2:44.17.
Karim Belmahdi of Monroe College (NR) took home the individual crown with a time of 27:58.6 (5:35.8 avg. mile). Felician's Daniel Chinchilla was next at 29:41.0 (5:56.2 avg mile) while Siyabonga Mbatha of Monroe rounded out the top-three finishers in 29:46.6.
Newcomer
John Hernandez turned in his second top-20 performance of the season, as he crossed the finish line in 31:16.5 (6:15.3 avg. mile) to pace the Bloodhounds.
Fellow harrier
Traejon Tasher was next to finish in 33:58.2 (6:47.7 avg. mile) followed by
Alejandro Animas, who placed among the top-40 with a time of 34:26.6 (6:53.4 avg. mile).
Joseph Valiente rounded out the top-50 performances in the meet, as he clocked in with a time of 34:59.9 (7:00.0 avg. mile).

The Bloodhounds will have a week off before their next race as they will return to the course on Saturday, October 14 for the St. Joseph's University - Long Island Invitational, which will be contested at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, NY.
Start time for the race is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
