Bronx, NY - In the final tune-up before the 2023 CUNY Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Cross Country Championships, the John Jay men's cross country turned in their best performance of the regular-season at the Medgar Evers College Legacy Invitational, held at Van Cortlandt Park on Sunday morning.
The Bloodhounds took home the team title, recording a score of 40 points as they averaged a time of 2:21 in the 1-5 split and produced a 36:12 average mile, collectively.
Individually, Colin Asher of Baruch took home the individual crown of the Division III runners with a time of 31:41.00. Gian-Carlo Riehl and Edy Morales of CCNY were next at 31:51.80 and 32:17.20, respectively, to round out the top-three performances.
Among the 58 runners in the meet,
John Hernandez was the top finisher for the Bloodhounds, finishing tenth overall with a time of 35:05.70, which was the sixth-fastest among all DIII competitors. His teammate,
Jack Treacher, finished 12th overall and seventh in the DIII-field, with a time of 35:10.60.
Joseph Valiente,
Traejon Tasher, and
Alejandro Animas were among the top-20 performances and rounded out the top-10 among all DIII harriers, with Valiente posting a time of 36:36.70, Tasher checking in at 36:41.40 and Animas closed with a finals time of 37:27.20.
