Wayne, NJ - In the final meet of 2023, the John Jay women's swimming team fell to the William Paterson Pioneers, 109-81, on Tuesday evening.
The Bloodhounds finish the first half of their season at 3-3 while the Pioneers improve to 6-4-1.
William Paterson won nine of the 11 events on the night at Wightman Pool.
Miranda Perez continued her impressive season, finishing first in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, posting a final time of 1:15.12. Teammate
Gloria Glenn was next, touching the wall in 1:33.48.
The second victory for the visiting Bloodhounds came in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, as the quartet of
Anna Moody,
Cami Achury,
Victoria Hapsis, and Perez posted a time of 1:53.74.
Other notable performances from Tuesday's meet include:
- The 200 Yard Medley Relay quartet of Andreea Gheorghe, Glenn, Achury, and Luciana Uriarte finished with a time of 2:21.23.
- Grace Driver finished third overall in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 16:08.88.
- Moody took third in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:15.32, while also posting a second-place finish in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:01.58.
- Perez and Hapsis finished second and third, respectively, in the 50 Yard Freestyle, finishing with times of 26.78 and 28.88.
- Gheorghe took third in the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:48.68. She also finished second in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:16.63.
- Achury posted a third-place finish in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:11.99.
The Bloodhounds will kick off 2024 at home on Friday, January 12, as they will host St. Joseph's University - Long Island at 6:00 p.m. from the John Jay Pool.
